About Us

Savannah M. D’Evelyn, Ph.D.

Dr. Savannah D’Evelyn spearheads collaborative, community-focused research and implementation across disciplines touching climate adaptation and environmental health. She started Ark Valley Consulting in 2023 to support organizations and agencies with expert facilitation and guidance on community engagement, climate adaptation, air quality monitoring, wildfire smoke readiness, and risk communication.

Dr. D’Evelyn earned her Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular and Integrative Physiology from the University of California, Davis in 2020, where her dissertation focused on a community-based participatory research (CBPR) project investigating the toxicological impacts of climate-driven air pollution in Imperial Valley, California. As a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Washington, Dr. D’Evelyn focused on the community impacts of wildfire smoke as a Science for Nature and People Partnership (SNAPP) Fellow. In this role, she honed her interdisciplinary facilitation skillset while working with representatives spanning the fields of forestry, air quality, and public health.

Today, Dr. D’Evelyn is continuing her interdisciplinary research as an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado in the School of Public Health. She works with organizations like the Environmental Protection Agency, Washington Department of Natural Resources, Colorado Department of Public Health, The Nature Conservancy, and the World Forestry Center to enhance community engagement and cultivate interdisciplinary collaborations. She also facilitates single and multiday workshops, panels, and focus groups that bring disparate groups together around a shared challenge or research question. Dr. D’Evelyn possesses a vast network of practitioners, policymakers, and scientists dedicated to advancing climate adaptation solutions that enhance human health while safeguarding our natural environment. This collaborative effort underscores Dr. D’Evelyn’s commitment to fostering a sustainable future for both people and the planet.
